My first, but not the last...GIVEAWAY!!!
>> Thursday, November 5, 2009
I am beyond excited to finally have something to give away to one of my many clients and fans who deserve so much for all that you have blessed me with this year! I have SO many people that ask me how I have possibly learned so much this year-my first year to pretty much EVER take pictures with any professional quality to them, and what a year it has been. I have filled my little brain with more photography information and skills than probably all 4 years of college and here's one way that I did it...by spending countless hours on CLICKIN MOMS. Clickin Moms is a forum for any kind of photographer, from amateurs to pro's or anyone just starting out in the biz. I can't tell you how much I have learned from this forum, and Kendra, the founder of Clickin Moms, has graciously offered to allow me to give away a FREE year subscription to the forum. That's a $50 value, but worth soooo much more! I promise you that you will love this forum with photography tips and technique, inspiration and ideas, giveaways and contests, discounts from vendors (yes, this means fabulous photo props!), and even 1:1 help with specific photos that you are trying to enhance. It's pretty fantastic!
So here's how to enter...
I really wanted to make this fun and also get some help from you on something. Since the holidays are right around the corner and it is a VERY busy time for photography, from family photos to the infamous "Santa" pics for the kids. Now, we've all done it...gotten everybody in the family ready, picked out the most fabulous clothes for everyone, and trucked it out to the best location only to get a less than perfect family photo, or annual picture with Santa. It has happened to my family and now that I am the photographer, I get to see it from a different perspective. As we approach these photo ops this year, let's all reassure everyone that it happens to everyone and laugh about it!
And for you to help me...since I am in my busiest season of the year, I am in need of your help with locations. I have a lot of locations I suggest and use, but the more you use them, the more you want MORE! I know that some of you may have some fabulous spots you've either had pictures done, or even better-have an amazing private spot you would be willing to share or allow me to use (if you own it). I am looking specifically for good fields of tall grass or wheat/wildflowers in the spring, warehouse style indoor spots/lofts, anything old or vintage looking, privately owned land that you would allow me to use with anything cool on it (house/barn/dirt roads/fence), or great urban locations.
Here's the deal: Email me any family picture gone wrong, or picture with Santa AND/OR comment under this post/email me with a location that you think I should use for my upcoming shoots. Everyone names will go into a hat and my little princess will draw one lucky winner on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10th. Entries are due on Tuesday, the 10th at 5pm! I will post the pictures as they come in and I will announce the winner next Tuesday night! Just to get us started, I'll share my favorite picture of Addyson and Santa. And, we are 2 for 2 on freaking out with Santa! :)
If you don't win, you can still click the pic above and go get yourself a membership. Monthly memberships are available too. Good luck!

I love shooting at the elevated train tracks found at the end of the trail at Allen Station Park. Let me know if you need directions. You'll see examples on this location in the teen gallery on my sit. Great urban feel. You can shoot underneath as well - with awesome wood beams.

My latest favorite place to shoot is Adriatica in McKinney. The architecture is charming, and the reflected light off of the stonework is warm and beautiful! Another place for great reflected light is the CCCC Frisco campus. You can see some examples of both these locations in my adult gallery on my website (the young lady in the pink top and the lady in the blue blouse).
Can you share with us all of the locations people send you? I'm always on the lookout for new places to inspire me :-)
Enjoy!
Margaret
